Chapter Twenty-One

MUST FEEL RIGHT

“That’s quite a story,” Bryce said. “You really got sucked into black holes?”

Riley shrugged. “Plenty of times.”

“Does it . . . tickle?”

“Not really. Waterslides are more fun.”

“So, how old are you exactly?” Bryce asked.

Riley used her finger to write invisible math equations in the air, and she whispered to herself before saying to Bryce, “Either I’m 195,292 years old . . . or I’m ten. Depending on your point of view.”

“You mean like if I climb a hill or something?”

Riley let out a little snort and said, “No, I mean I’m back to my original universe and picking up where I left off when I was ten, so . . .”

“But how do you know this is your original universe?”

Riley smiled at Bryce. “Trust me. It just feels right.”

Bryce looked down at his fish sticks. Riley had traveled to over fifty million universes on one fish stick alone. He had at least ten fish sticks left. That meant he could visit half a billion universes!

“So are you thinking it’s time to move on?” Riley asked.

Bryce considered this. It was nice to be part of the Screamin’ Beagles, but it wasn’t the life he wanted. It simply didn’t feel right. He dipped his finger in the ketchup and wrote number six on his list.

6. Must Feel Right

It was hard to say what “right” was at the moment. But this place wasn’t it.

“It was a pleasure meeting this version of you, Riley,” Bryce said, and he stuck his ketchupy hand out to shake.

“Oh, don’t worry. You’ll be seeing me again,” Riley said, and then she kicked him in the shins.

“Ow!” Bryce yelped as he grabbed his shin and hopped on one foot. “That seemed unnecessary.”
